GREENBOX
Cold and heated boxes for demanding transport
Greenbox is a thermally insulated corrugated transport box for products whose temperature must be maintained during transport and delivery.
The construction suits chilled, frozen and warm products. It provides a recyclable, made-to-measure alternative to conventional EPS and expanded-polystyrene boxes.
Recyclable construction made from corrugated board, paper fibre and maize-starch adhesive.
Easy to handle and protective without adding unnecessary transport weight.
Dimensions, insulation level, printing and coolant positions are designed for the application.
Manufactured locally from start to finish at our own factory in Oravais.
Effective insulation
Fibre insulation helps the contents retain the required temperature for an extended period. Performance can be specified for the product, transport duration and ambient temperature. In comparative tests, Greenbox has achieved at least equivalent and, in some test arrangements, better insulation than a comparable EPS box.
- Lid and base designed for easy packing and opening
- Option to supply boxes pre-assembled and ready to use
- Compartments and separated positions for cooling elements
- Interior volume and insulation fitted to the product
- Suitable for food, beverages, pharmaceuticals and other temperature-sensitive products
Dimensions, branding and print
Greenbox can be manufactured to product-specific dimensions. This reduces empty space and filling material and allows cooling elements to be positioned without direct contact with the contents. Standard sizes are also available quickly from stock.
- Custom dimensions, fittings and structures
- Cooling elements of different sizes in separated compartments
- High-quality offset printing for visually demanding surfaces
- Flexographic printing for robust, efficient production runs
- Digital printing for flexible volumes and versioning
APPLICATIONS
When temperature is part of product safety
Food and beverages
For chilled, frozen or warm products in transport, distribution and home delivery.
Pharmaceuticals and health products
For products that require protection from temperature variation throughout the delivery chain.
Technical and sensitive products
For contents whose properties or quality can be affected by cold, heat or rapid temperature changes.
A FIBRE-BASED ALTERNATIVE
Production surplus becomes insulation
Greenbox insulation is made entirely from corrugated surplus generated in our own production. Equipment developed by Orapac turns the material into insulating fibre. This allows the complete box to be manufactured locally at the Oravais factory from start to finish.
The box consists of corrugated board, paper fibre and maize-starch adhesive and can be recycled with board. Unlike EPS, it contains no plastic-based insulation, does not break down into microplastics and is straightforward to recycle. Corrugated fibre can be recycled several times, conserving raw materials and reducing waste.
Greenbox is also price-competitive with conventional insulated transport boxes while offering considerably more freedom to customise the construction.
COLD TEST
Insulation performance in a practical test
Greenbox temperature retention has been monitored in a cold test. The chart documents the test arrangement and temperature development during the measurement period. Actual performance is affected by the product’s starting temperature, the quantity of cooling media, box size, transport duration and ambient temperature.
Tell us the target temperature, transport duration and conditions, and we can assess the appropriate construction, insulation level and quantity of cooling media.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Cold and insulated boxes
What is Greenbox made from?
The box is made from corrugated board and the insulation from paper fibre reclaimed from our own production surplus. The construction contains paper and maize-starch adhesive and can be recycled with board.
Can the box be used for food?
Yes. The insulated construction suits food, beverages and other products requiring temperature control. The solution is specified for the product and delivery chain.
Can Greenbox be customised?
Yes. Dimensions, fittings, insulation level, cooling-element positions and printing can all be adapted. Standard sizes are also available quickly from stock.
Can Greenbox replace an EPS box?
In many applications, yes. Suitability is confirmed from the temperature requirement, transport duration and conditions and, when needed, a product-specific test.
Which printing methods are available?
Greenbox can be decorated with offset, flexographic or digital printing. The method is selected according to the required print quality, volume, versioning and cost.
